Dermal filler injections use a substance found naturally in the body to restore the skin’s natural support structures that have been damaged by the natural aging and other environmental and lifestyle factors.

When you combine injectable treatments with skin treatments such as laser genesis and TCA peels, clients can achieve amplified results and increased satisfaction.

It is natural for skin to lose its elasticity over time. Gradual loss of collagen combined with the effects of gravity can result in lines, wrinkles, and a sagging appearance. Loss of volume is one of the most common signs of the aging process, as it causes the face to appear thin and drawn. This is often most noticeable in the lips, cheeks, and eye areas which tend to lose their fullness with age. Dermal fillers can improve facial fullness, restore symmetry and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance.

All Cosmetic Injectable treatments – including Dermal Fillers – are performed by a highly experienced medical doctor and cosmetic physician. To ensure the best experience and results, we recommend a complimentary consultation prior to treatment. During the consultation, we will:

  • Discuss your concerns and what you are hoping to achieve
  • Provide the best advice to address your specific concerns
  • Implement and deliver a tailored result, specific to you

Dermal Filler Benefits

Dermal Fillers can offer a number of benefits depending on the individual, your natural features and which areas you wish to target.

Ideal candidates for Dermal Fillers

During the consultation, our cosmetic physician will determine suitability of the treatment based on a numbers of factors.

You will need to discuss your medical history, reasons for seeking dermal fillers, and ideal outcomes. If you are in good health and have noticed a general loss of facial fullness, dermal filler may be the best treatment for you.

We will also take your natural facial features and goals into account in order to produce an ideal treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Generally speaking, ideal candidates for dermal fillers include those who are seeking a procedure to increase facial volume in certain areas. They may have skin folds or other problem areas such as sunken cheeks or facial hollows. If this sounds like you, you might be a good candidate. Good candidates:

  • Are physically and mentally healthy
  • Are over 18 years old
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have allergies to filler
  • Do not have inflamed or irritated skin

If you are unsure whether you fit these criteria, a consultation with our cosmetic physician will help clarify if this is the right procedure for you.

What to expect

Facial features and goals vary from person to person, and therefore, treatments will vary depending on the factors discussed in your first appointment or during your consultation.

Once a plan has been developed for you, the procedure itself will generally not exceed 30 minutes. The highly experienced injector will use fine needles to inject the fillers into the skin in precise areas.

The fillers add immediate volume to the skin which will be noticeable right away. However, the results will not be fully visible until a few weeks later when the fillers have had time to settle into the skin. Treatments generally last for six months to two years, depending on how quickly your body metabolises the substance and the type of filler used.

Aftercare instructions will help you maintain the effects for as long as possible and make the most out of your treatment.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the result, we can reverse the effects by injecting an enzyme into the skin which will dissolve the filler.

Dermal Filler Recovery & Aftercare

Immediately post treatment, your face may feel a little swollen and sore – resulting in some areas appearing larger then expected. When swelling subsides, you’ll see the true results. Some redness and bruising is also common but usually subsides quite quickly.

It is important to take care of your treated sites in order to encourage good healing and achieve a pleasing end result. Any mild side effects are usually not a serious cause for concern and should subside naturally over time while you heal.

Although this procedure is minimally invasive, you will still need to follow specific aftercare instructions. For example, you will likely need to:

  • Avoid sun and heat exposure
  • Avoid alcohol consumption
  • Maintain a healthy and balanced diet
  • Refrain from vigorous exercise for 24 hours
  • Do not rub or massage the treated area
  • Minimise movement of the treated area
  • Do not smoke
  • Use gentle skincare products
  • Avoid facial waxing and peels

The pain after dermal fillers is usually mild, but some areas may be more sensitive, such as the lips. You may be able to take pain relief like paracetamol, as directed by your treating injector. Avoid taking aspirin, as this can thin your blood and increase your risk of bruising.

Additionally, to help reduce swelling, you can apply a cold compress to your treated region (but avoid putting ice directly on the skin).

Further instructions will be provided in order to help you have a smooth recovery but as always, if you experience any concerns, please contact the injector directly for advice.
