Coenzyme Q10 is pivotal in the production of biological energy (ATP) inside the cells. It is also a potent antioxidant neutralising destructive free radicals which can damage and age skin cells. CoQ10 is a small molecule that can relatively easily penetrate skin cells.
The human body naturally produces CoQ10. This production declines as we age, resulting in reduced ability to fight free radical damage, which in turn impacts skin repair and regeneration and production of collagen and elastin. A 1999 German research study reported that long-term use of CoQ10 reduced the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes« Back to Glossary Index
