Cancer sucks, I’m sure you would agree. If we ourselves aren’t touched by this insidious disease, we are going to know someone that has been.
- Approximately two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70.
- 1 in 2 Australian men and women will be diagnosed with some form of cancer by the age of 85.
- Cancer is a leading cause of death in Australia – almost 50,000 deaths from cancer are estimated for 2019.
Melanoma skin cancer was the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia in 2015. It is estimated that it will remain the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in 2019.
In 2015, there were 13,694 new cases of melanoma skin cancer diagnosed in Australia (7,990 males and 5,704 females). In 2019, it is estimated that 15,229 new cases of melanoma skin cancer will be diagnosed in Australia (8,899 males and 6,330 females).
What can we do?
We aren’t scientists – so researching a cure ourselves is out of the question. But we can help create awareness, provide support to patients pre, during and post treatment, and donate to the dedicated individuals and organisations that make the search for a cure their life’s work.
And that’s exactly what we are going to do!
While our focus is primarily on Skin Cancer, we want to help support those with any type of cancer.
You’ll be seeing a lot more about skin cancer and cancer in general within the clinic in the coming months. There is lots to come and much more we have planned – so stay tuned.
If you’re an existing client, you’ll start receiving yearly reminders for skin checks soon.
We have begun our training in oncology aesthetics. This will help us understand and provide specialised support for those needing it most – not just in relation to skin cancer but cancer in general.
This will take some time to complete but we will keep you updated as we go.
When you purchase a skincare product or a skin treatment from us, 5% of the total cost will be donated to cancer research and support.
Not just once, not just for a month or two – this is an ongoing initiative and a commitment from us that we will offer every day of the week, every year, for as long as we possibly can.
All products and treatments in the clinic that qualify for the 5% donation can be identified with the small symbol pictured below.
It will start appearing next to treatments on our website and products in-clinic within the next few weeks.
How does it work?
Every time you purchase certain skincare products or skin treatments from us, we will donate 5% of that purchase to skin cancer research.
This is not a weekly or monthly promotion nor is it a fundraiser – this is an ongoing initiative that will continue for as long as possible.
You don’t have to do anything yourself. Whether you purchase 1 product or 6; 1 facial or 10 – the same 5% of each purchase will be donated.
Together, we can make a real difference to someone’s life!
What products and treatments does it apply to?
You will be able to identify which products and treatments by looking for the little logo mentioned above. Wherever you see this logo, the 5% applies.
As a guide, it currently applies to the following:
As our treatment menu changes, so will the above.
* Excludes deco/makeup, travel kits and travel size products.
What does 5% look like?
A Full Face Skin Needling treatment is currently $239 which means $11.95 will be donated to Skin Cancer research.
There are 260 working days (roughly) per year.
If we did just one Skin Needling treatment per day, that equates to just over $3000 for the year – without factoring in a single product sale or any other skin treatment.
Those are some good numbers!
Creating awareness, supporting those undergoing treatment, post treatment, and helping to fund the search for a cure!
There may be times when the 5% does not apply, or is reduced slightly – such as during VIP events or where significant discounts already apply. We will always try and apply the 5% donation regardless of the circumstances but can’t always guarantee it.
