Suitable for most skin types, Dermaplaning (also known as epi-dermal levelling or epi-blading) is a great treatment to reveal smoother, glowing skin.
There is no down time and no specific pre and post care you need to worry about.
Dermaplaning a simple yet effective treatment that can help with the removal of vellus hair (peach fuzz) that can’t be targeted with lasers, or if you find waxing too painful. It will leave the skin feeling smoother, softer and refreshed.
During the treatment, we are happy to discuss options for the future including additional treatments to support your skin as well as home care. If you’re not interested in chatting, we don’t have to say anything at all. You can simply relax and enjoy the experience.
At Stellar Skin + Body, we offer a personalised, client-focused approach. You can discuss your concerns with us in person during an obligation-free, complimentary consultation (30 minute consultation only). During the consultation, we will:

How does Dermaplaning work?
Pain free, gentle and non-invasive – dermaplaning helps to improve overall skin texture and clarity.
Also know as epi-dermal levelling or epi-blading – Dermaplaning it’s a manual exfoliation process whereby a surgical straight edge blade is run across the surface of the skin on a 45 degree angle in a back and forth motion – kind of like shaving!
In the process, vellus hair and redundant skin cells are removed leaving the skin feeling clean, smooth, refreshed and glowing.
Combined with supportive post care products applied after the treatment, your skin should feel much smoother, and look more radiant.
Dermaplaning Preparation & Post Care
It’s simple! There is none… but you should consider home care to support the long-term health and resilience of your skin.
There is no specific pre or post care required for Dermaplaning. You should consider implementing the basics into your home care routine to improve overall skin health and resilience. This may help to support the skin and improve results from any future treatments.
A good home care routine doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated.
Include a moisturiser such as SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid, or SkinBetter Science Trio Rebalancing for morning and night use.
Vitamin A is essential and a perfect all-round powerhouse ingredient that can be used at night to help reduce fine-lines and wrinkles, acne and breakouts, prevent and reduce pigmentation and more. SkinCeuticals Retinol or SkinBetter Science AlphaRet are some great options.
Most important… sunscreen! If you’re going to spend thousands on in-clinic treatments and home care products, then you should seriously consider some insurance. That insurance = sunscreen. Physical or chemical based makes no difference. Find one you like wearing and wear it daily… rain, hail or shine!
What to expect during Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is well tolerated by most clients. The treatment should be a comfortable and relaxing experience.
Depending on the option you choose, treatments will take from 50-60 minutes to perform.
You’ll be guided into the treatment room where you’ll sit down with the clinician for a brief discussion about the treatment.
If desired, the clinician will leave the room while you get comfortable on the treatment bed.
The treatment begins by cleansing the skin followed by Dermaplaning. A hydrating mask is applied post treatment to support the skins recovery and comfort.
To finish the treatment, the application of a moisturiser and sunscreen is applied.
There is no downtime and no expected adverse side-effects. You’ll be able to continue on with your day as normal.
What to expect after Dermaplaning
Your skin should feel softer, smoother, and free from any vellus hair.
There is no specific home care required and no specific side-effects you need to worry about. As always, the use of sunscreen post treatment is very important. Sunscreen should be worn regardless, but it’s especially important post many skin treatment, including Dermaplaning.
Some clients do present with mild redness for a short period of time post treatment, but this generally only occurs if you have sensitive or reactive skin. The redness dissipates relatively quickly in most cases.
You’ll be fine to return to work post treatment and continue on with your day as normal.
